About Me šŸ¦„

I have been involved in multiple startup projects from product design to code. These have been based in Australia, Malaysia and globally,Ā working with remote teams spread across the world.

Being professionally trained and having worked as a speech pathologist, I bring increased empathy, attention to detail, a focus in knowledge sharing, collaborationĀ and clear communication.Ā I amĀ passionate about learning, problem solving, accessibility, sustainability, efficiency, tech, user experience and product development.

With my technical and soft skills from coding, design and healthcare, Ā I bring well-rounded problem solving skills when developing products and writing code. Some may even call me a unicorn šŸ¦„

Why Web3?

I am constantly amazed by all the BUIDLers (or buildooors; iykyk) in the space and the limitless opportunities Web3 provides. I love that Web3 challenges us to think differently about the norm and inspires us to contribute and build without permission. I like that the community encourages Ā transparency, open source, putting careful thought and design into what they build. I enjoy learning about all things Web3 from smart contract development, blockchain layers and protocols, to community, culture and NFTs, to DeFi and GameFi - the learning is endless and exciting!
ā€
Everyone does not have to be a crypto/NFT trader or a smart contract developer - no one size fits all. Each and every member of our society is given the opportunity participate and to bring ideas to life to make our web better. There is no space more exciting than Ā Web3.

Word on the street

I kept trying to come up with tech solutions for administrative tasks in the healthcare world. I wanted to leverage technology to solve real-world problems but writing code was the bottleneck to the problems I was trying to solve.

What I'm focusing on

Frontend Engineering/Software Design & Architecture

At Immutable, I am focusing on learning a frontend framework that is new to me - Angular. At the same time, applying my design thinking and experience to improve things external to the game environment. My goal here is to get more technical in my understanding of software engineering and to pursue a more widely used tech stack. Things that interest me and keep me going include thinking about software architecture, implementing design systems, coding animations and data tracking. Since I've started, I've explored technologies such as Angular, WebGL, PixiJS, Golang, Retool, Amplitude.

Data Science

During my free time, I've been exploring what data science is all about through online learning.

Reading

During my free time, I've been doing lots of reading on software architecture and design, entrepreneurship, organisational behaviour, productivity, mindset and culture. Here's what's on my reading list:
ā€
ā€¢ Build by Tony Fadell
ā€¢ SOLID by Khalil Stemmler
ā€¢ Think Again by Adam Grant
ā€¢ Righting Software by Juval Lƶwy
ā€¢ Implementing Domain-Driven Design by Vaughn Vernon
ā€¢ Rethinking Agile by Michael Mangialardi
ā€¢ Good, Great, Perfect by Dr Rebecca Ray
ā€¢ Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman
ā€¢ The Stories Women Journalists Tell edited by Reta Lee

Photography

After a few years focusing solely on my career, I seek to find work-life balance. Photography has been my hobby over the years and I'm so excited to be able to do this again and to see the world through different perspectives.
